About Clachtoll Beach
Clachtoll Beach is one of the finest on the northwest Sutherland coast — a sweeping arc of white sand and clear turquoise water framed by ancient Torridonian sandstone headlands. The beach takes its name from the remarkable "Split Rock" (Clach Toll in Gaelic), a massive boulder cleaved in two creating a dramatic natural arch. Iron Age broch ruins overlook the bay from the southern headland.

🚐 Motorhome Tip
Clachtoll Beach Campsite is directly adjacent to the beach with good facilities. The car park is large enough for motorhomes. Combine with a visit to the Old Man of Stoer sea stack (6 miles north by road).
Getting There
From Lochinver, take the B869 north past Achmelvich. After about 5 miles, turn left at Stoer village for Clachtoll (2 miles).
Best Time to Visit
May to September. The Split Rock is best photographed with a low sun casting shadows into the cleft.
