The garage at Gairloch is one of the most remote repair facilities on the NC500, yet it serves a vast area of Wester Ross. If you suffer a breakdown on the roads between Applecross and Ullapool, Gairloch Garage will likely be your rescue point. They have a recovery vehicle and are experienced with helping stranded tourists. Phone ahead if possible — limited staffing means they can be stretched in peak season.

⚠️ Remote Area Advice: Mobile phone signal is patchy or non-existent across much of the NC500. Before you set off, save your breakdown insurance number and this garage's number offline. Consider joining the AA, RAC or Green Flag — their Highland coverage includes recovery from very remote areas. Always carry a basic tyre repair kit and know how to change a tyre.
