About Scourie Campsite
Scourie Campsite is a small, well-run site in the remote northwest of Sutherland, close to the fuel station and Scourie Hotel. This is one of the most isolated overnight spots on the NC500 — Lochinver is 35 miles south and Durness is 40 miles north, making Scourie a crucial mid-point for the northwest coast. Handa Island, one of Scotland's most important seabird colonies (home to over 100,000 breeding seabirds including great skuas and razorbills), is accessed by ferry from Tarbet, 10 miles north. The landscape here — flat bogland punctuated by dramatic quartzite mountains — is ancient and otherworldly.

🚐 Motorhome Tip
Book a Handa Island ferry trip (seasonal) from nearby Tarbet — the seabird colony is spectacular. The Scourie Hotel has a well-regarded bar and restaurant. Kylesku, 15 miles south, has the excellent Kylesku Hotel for dining.
