Melvich sits on the north coast at Strathy Bay, a beautiful sandy beach with outstanding surf in the right conditions. The campsite here is simple and affordable, with a pub and hotel nearby. This is one of the better surf spots on the north coast — the bay picks up Atlantic swells and can produce excellent waves. The coastal views west toward Strathy Point and east toward Thurso are lovely. A good mid-point on the north coast between Bettyhill and Thurso.
