About Sango Bay Durness (Roadside)
Several wide informal laybys line the road above Sango Bay in Durness, offering breathtaking views over one of the most dramatic beaches in Britain. The bay has two sandy coves separated by a rocky headland, with crashing Atlantic surf and views toward the Faroe Islands on clear days. This is genuinely wild Scotland at its most spectacular. The adjacent Sango Sands Oasis campsite (the region's main paid site) has facilities, and the village of Durness is a 5-minute walk away with the SPAR shop, post office, café and Smoo Cave.

🚐 Motorhome Tip
The paid campsite immediately above Sango Bay (Sango Sands Oasis) offers facilities for a reasonable price. If you prefer free, the laybys are close but have no amenities. Smoo Cave is a 10-minute walk east.
