About John o' Groats
John o' Groats is the symbolic end of the North Coast 500 and the most famous point on the northeast tip of mainland Britain. Though not actually the most northerly point (that's Dunnet Head, 15 miles west), it holds a unique place in the national imagination as the traditional end of the Land's End to John o' Groats journey — 874 miles end to end. The famous signpost indicating distances to distant places, and the iconic yellow Last House, are the must-photograph landmarks. The Orkney passenger ferry connects here in summer. Duncansby Head, 2 miles east, offers far more dramatic scenery — three spectacular sea stacks and dramatic clifftop walks away from the tourist crowds.

On the A99, 16 miles east of Thurso and 20 miles north of Wick. Follow signs from either direction.
